Audio Design work is an accumulation of a multitude of sound effects, either pre-recorded or live audio, added to a particular production such as a talk show, weather broadcast, or radio morning show. The people responsible for the Audio Design work are Audio Designers, better known as Sound Designers. These Sound Designers must make sure they set up the properly recorded playback material and ensure that said “playback” board operator is trained and functioning properly for the specific production’s needs. Audio Design work and elements just like other aspects of production such as lighting is another artistic component of production. Below are some of the most commonly used audio software Sound Designers use to produce high-quality sound effects, voice-overs, and more.
TOP 6 AUDIO SOFTWARE
- Adobe Audition: the most commonly known and used audio software among both PC and MAC users that allows you to create, edit, mix, and restore audio content; it is known to helping facilitate as well as accelerate the video production and audio finishing process.
- Logic Pro X: this software was made by Apple and exclusively works on Apple products such as the MAC, and is a much better and professional version of its counterpart (also from Apple) known as GarageBand.
- Ableton Live: known for its digital audio workstation (DAW) set up, it’s more focused on live performances and remixing of songs needed for jobs like a party or club DJ for example. However, it can also record music, control stage lighting, as well as other special effects like visual effects (VFX).
- GarageBand: known as the software that can only be accessed by Apple-made or IOS devices like its leading counterpart Logic Pro X, it is a multi-track audio recording program that enables you to both create and record your own music. It seems to be almost every beginner’s choice due to its easy-to-use user interface.
- Audacity: this software is known as the easiest around to use, however, the quality may not always be as pristine as the audio quality of Adobe Audition or Logic Pro X. The plus about Audacity is that you can translate it into a multitude of languages to record live audio and computer playback.
- Sound Forge: known as the go-to software for editing audio content for professional and semi-professional markets. It was originally known as Sonic Foundry Sound Forge and is now known as Sony Sound Forge.
